Group farewell card

The farewell card the whole team signs, even remotely

Updated · by Milad, founder of Ouvella

A coworker is moving on? Create the card, share a single link, and everyone adds their message from their phone, with a photo or a voice note if they like. No one who signs can read the others’ messages (only you, the organizer, can check them): on the day of the leaving party, the person discovers them all at once, as a slideshow on the big screen if you want. €14.99 once for the whole group, no subscription, no account.

How it works, in 3 steps

  1. Step 1

    Create the card

Their first name, a title, a short welcome message, a cover photo if you like, a color theme and the party date. Two minutes, and you write the first message.

  2. Step 2

    Share one link

In the team chat, Teams, Slack or by email, with an invitation already written for you. Everyone adds a message, a photo, even a voice note, in two minutes, no sign-up.

  3. Step 3

    Open it on the day

Pay €14.99 once, before or after collecting the messages, and get a link and a QR code. On the TV in the room or on their phone, the card opens in front of everyone.

Nothing to install, for you, your coworkers or the person leaving: everything opens in the browser, on a phone or a computer.

No signer reads anyone else’s message

This is the rule that changes everything. When a coworker signs, they see how many people already have, and their own message. Never the others. Only the person leaving reads every message, plus you, the organizer, to check that everything is fine before the big day.

  • People write more freely. With no audience, they dare the real memory, the real story, the thank-you they never said in a meeting.
  • No more “ditto, good luck!”. Nobody copies the message above, because nobody sees it.
  • The surprise stays intact. Unlike a paper card going from desk to desk, it never lands in front of the person who is leaving.

At the leaving party

Plug a laptop into the TV or the projector, open the card and start the slideshow: the messages play full screen while everyone raises a glass. Or print the QR code and tuck it into the gift so they can open it on their phone, surrounded by the team or later, quietly. If they are leaving remotely, just send them the link at the right moment.

Afterwards they keep everything: the online card with the voice notes, and a keepsake booklet to print or save as a PDF. Collecting money for a leaving gift? Add your collection link to the card: the people who sign see it, the person leaving never does.

The same card works for a retirement or the end of an internship, and also for a birthday, a new baby, a wedding, a get-well card or a thank-you to a teacher. Only the welcome words and the writing prompts change. See the group retirement card and the group birthday card, and if you need words, our farewell messages for a coworker and retirement messages. 40 farewell message ideas for a coworker

Written for this page and free to reuse, on our card or any other. A good farewell message fits in two or three sentences: a memory, a thank-you, a wish for what comes next. Replace what is in brackets.

For a close coworker

  1. Message #1

[Name], the office won’t be the same without your 10 a.m. coffee runs. Thank you for every break that saved my day. I’m going to miss you so much.

  2. Message #2

We shared a desk, impossible deadlines and an alarming number of biscuits. I’m keeping the best part: your good mood, even on Mondays. Good luck!

  3. Message #3

Thank you for showing me the ropes from day one. I owe you more than you know.

  4. Message #4

  5. Message #5

Working next to you made every day lighter. Thank you for your patience and for calming every crisis. Wishing you all the best.

  6. Message #6

  7. Message #7

I’ll never forget that late night finishing [project], cold pizza included. Thank you for everything, and stay in touch.

  8. Message #8

  4. Message #12

Good managers set goals. Great ones make you want to reach them. You were definitely the second kind.

  5. Message #13

Thanks to you, I took on this role, presented that project and finally spoke up in meetings. Thank you for seeing what I couldn’t see yet.

  5. Message #19

Your camera freezing at the worst moment, your cat walking across the screen and your brilliant ideas in meetings: I’ll miss it all.

  4. Message #39

We still owe each other a real coffee, not one through a webcam. It’s on me.

  5. Message #40

Even hundreds of miles away, you were the most present person on the team. Good luck!

Frequently asked questions

How much does the group farewell card cost?

€14.99, paid once by the organizer, for the whole group. The price does not depend on how many people sign (up to 200 messages). There is no subscription, and signing the card is free, with no sign-up.

How many people can sign the card?

Up to 200 messages per card. Each message can come with a photo and a one-minute voice note. Two coworkers sitting side by side can even sign one after the other on the same phone.

Can coworkers see each other’s messages?

No. When signing, people only see how many others have already signed, and their own message. Only the person leaving reads every message, plus you as the organizer, so you can check everything before the big day (and remove a message if needed).

How do remote coworkers sign?

Share the card’s link in your WhatsApp group, in Teams, on Slack or by email: everyone signs from their phone or computer, wherever they are. A ready-to-send invitation message is included, and if you set the party date, everyone sees how long they have left to write.

When do I pay?

Whenever you like. You can create the card and collect the messages first, then pay before giving it. The signing link stays open after payment, so latecomers can still add their message.

How do we show the card at the leaving party?

After payment you get a link and a QR code. The best moment: open the card on the TV or projector in the room and start the slideshow mode, the messages play full screen. You can also have the person scan the QR code, or send them the link so they can read it quietly later.

Can we print the card?

Yes. The card includes a keepsake booklet with every message and every signature, which you can print or save as a PDF from the browser. Voice notes stay playable in the online card.

Can we add a collection for the leaving gift?

Yes. Paste the link of your online collection into the card: it is shown to the people who sign, never to the person leaving. Ouvella never handles the money, it is just a link.

Is the card available in other languages?

Yes. The card can be displayed in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian or Brazilian Portuguese, which is handy for international teams. Each message stays in the language it was written in.

Does anyone need an account?

No: not to organize, not to sign, not to open the card. You keep a private organizer link to follow the messages coming in, and you can email it to yourself to find it later.
