Example

Virtual Advent calendar example for a long-distance couple

Camille lives in Paris, Thomas in Montréal: 5,000 km and a 6-hour time difference. Here is the Advent calendar she made for him, as Thomas sees it on the evening of December 5: doors 1 to 5 are open, the others are waiting for their day.

Camille and Thomas are made up for this example. The calendar is the real one: the very page the person you give it to receives.

Open the doors like Thomas

Tap an open door, from 1 to 5. A locked door does not open before its day: its content only reaches Thomas’s phone at midnight, his time.

Sneak a look at door 24

What is inside the open doors

The same doors, as text: what Thomas finds each morning.

Door 1 · December 1 · How they met

The coffee day

Two cups of coffee on a marble table outside a Paris café

I thought I was just grabbing a coffee that day. I had no idea I was about to meet you.

Door 2 · December 2 · Her voice

My voice

Voice note, transcribed

“Hey you… It’s midnight where you are. Even 5,000 km away, I wanted to be the first to wish you a good day.”

In a real calendar, this door holds the voice note recorded in the editor. The example shows its words.

Door 3 · December 3 · Their joke

Remember?

A bag of croissants on a bench on a station platform

Remember when we missed our train because you absolutely had to buy croissants?

Door 5 · December 5 · The letter

A letter

An open red envelope with a letter inside

Sometimes I wish I could shrink the distance between us. Until then, I’m sending you a little piece of me every morning.

Doors 6 to 23 · Locked. Their content is never sent before their day, not even hidden in the page: the surprise stays whole until the end.

Door 24 · December 24 · The revealSneak peek

December 24

A couple embracing on a Paris rooftop, facing the Eiffel Tower at sunset

Surprise: on December 27, we meet in Paris. This time, no more saying goodnight over the phone.

This example’s one exception: in the real calendar, door 24 stays locked until midnight on December 24 in Thomas’s time zone, and its content is not even sent to his phone before then.

How Camille made it

  1. 1

    The settings

She chose 24 doors ending on December 24 and Thomas’s time zone: each door opens at midnight in Montréal, not in Paris.

  2. 2

    The doors

She filled each door with a few words, a photo, her voice or a song. Creating and previewing are free.

  3. 3

    The link

She paid €14.99 once and sent Thomas a single link. She can still fill in her doors after sending it.

Who is it for?

For a long-distance couple, it is a good choice if you want to give a romantic Advent calendar, full of your photos, your words and your voice, with a surprise that opens every day at midnight where your partner lives. The calendar costs €14.99, paid once.
