The best group card websites: 8 compared, free options included

Updated · by Milad, founder of Ouvella

A digital group card is the easy way to get the whole team, the whole class or the whole family to sign one card, wherever they are. There are plenty of sites for it, and they differ in ways that matter: what is really free, how many people can sign, whether everyone reads everyone else’s message, and how the card reaches the person on the day. We read the pricing pages and help articles of eight of them so you can pick in a few minutes.

The short version: for zero cost, use one of GreetPool’s free designs. For the most features, with GIFs, video and printed books, Kudoboard. For a printed card everyone signs from afar, Moonpig. For a card where nobody reads anyone else’s message until the big day, Ouvella, at €14.99 once.

Ouvella is our product. So we are not neutral: we listed it with its limits, we say plainly when another site fits better, and every fact about the other sites comes from their own pages, listed at the bottom. No affiliate links, and no site paid to be here.

Number 8, in full transparency

Ouvella is an independent site, created by Milad. We built the card around one idea: everyone writes the real memory without reading the message above theirs, and the person discovers it all on the day, as a slideshow at the party or quietly on their phone. Pick Ouvella if:

  • you want nobody to read anyone else’s message before the big day
  • you’d rather pay one flat price (€14.99) than subscribe
  • your team is international and wants the card in its own language
  • a message, a photo and a voice note per person is enough, without a GIF library or video
Create a farewell cardYou only pay when the card is ready
Ouvella group card for a farewell: the cover “Bonne route, Julie !” (“Safe travels, Julie!”) and the “Ouvrir la carte” (“Open the card”) button
Ouvella group card: the wall of the team’s short messages, in a handwritten style, with photos
Ouvella group card: the end of the card, “Bonne route, Julie !” and the signatures of the 12 colleagues

Group card online free: what actually works

Looking for a free group card or free group ecards for the office? Here is what genuinely costs nothing, and where each option falls short.

  • A free GreetPool design

Good: A real online group card, with no limit on messages or signers and no credit card.

Catch: Only on the designs marked “FREE” at the time, a selection that changes.

  • A free Padlet board

Good: Up to 3 boards, with photos and recorded video or audio.

Catch: Everyone sees everything, and the layout and hand-over are up to you.

  • A form, then a homemade slideshow

Good: With Microsoft Forms or Google Forms, everyone answers on their own and only you read the replies. Paste them into PowerPoint or Google Slides for the party.

Catch: Free and private, but the layout takes you an evening, and photos or voice notes have to be gathered separately.

  • A shared document or a team channel

Good: A Word document online, a Google Doc, or a Teams, Slack or group chat created without the person: ready in a minute.

Catch: Everyone sees everything, and someone has to gather the messages before they can be given.

  • Kudoboard’s demo board

Good: Free, and a good way to try the tool.

Catch: Capped at 5 posts, and Kudoboard does not let you deliver it to the recipient: it is a trial, not a card to give.

What about Thankbox? Creating one is free, but you pay when you send it. Ouvella isn’t free either, and we’d rather say so: €14.99 once, about €0.75 per person for a team of 20, and signing stays free for everyone. Whatever you pick, our farewell messages for a coworker will help with the words.

How to choose, in 4 questions

1. One card, or every card this year?

For a single occasion, a per-card price is simplest: GroupCards.io, GreetPool, Thankbox, GroupGreeting, Kudoboard or Ouvella. If your team celebrates every birthday and every leaving do, a subscription can work out cheaper: Kudoboard’s business plans, GroupCards.io’s Business plan, GreetPool’s subscriptions or Thankbox’s Team Plan. For an office birthday, see also our group birthday card.

2. Should it arrive on paper?

Moonpig group cards can be physical cards, GroupCards.io prints and posts cards in the UK, and Kudoboard turns a board into a hardbound book. Everywhere else, the keepsake is digital, usually a PDF you can print at home.

3. Do you want the messages kept private?

A shared board has real charm: you watch it grow and laugh at everyone’s photos. But people tend to echo the message above theirs, and the card can reach the person too early. For warmer, more personal messages, look at Thankbox’s and GroupCards.io’s private messages (each contributor’s choice), Kudoboard’s private posts (Milestone and business plans), or Ouvella, where privacy is the rule for everyone.

4. How will you hand it over?

For a party with a screen, look for a slideshow: Kudoboard (Milestone), Thankbox (Premium) and Ouvella include one. For the group gift, Kudoboard, Thankbox, GreetPool and GroupCards.io build in a group gift card; Ouvella shows the link to your own collection. Everything about our card is on the group farewell card page.

How we made this list

  • Official pages only. On November 1, 2026 we read each site’s pricing page, FAQ or help center. No third-party reviews, nothing from memory: the exact addresses are in the sources below.
  • The same criteria for everyone. The real price of one card, whether a genuinely free option exists and its limit, how many messages, which media, who reads what, how the card is handed over (slideshow, PDF, print) and the group gift.
  • What we didn’t do. We did not buy a card on every site: this comparison relies on what each one publishes. When a page doesn’t say, we write “not stated” rather than guess.
  • Ouvella is our product. It is on the list with its limits, and the order is not a ranking. No link is an affiliate link, and no site paid to appear.
  • Prices as shown from France. Thankbox, GreetPool and Padlet displayed euros to us; several sites adapt the currency to your country, so you may see a different amount.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free group card online?

Yes, with limits. GreetPool’s designs marked “FREE” work like paid cards, with no limit on messages or signers, but the selection is small and changes over time. Padlet is free for up to 3 boards, where everyone sees everything. A Microsoft Forms or Google Forms survey pasted into a slideshow also costs nothing. Kudoboard’s free board is only a 5-post demo that cannot be delivered. Thankbox is free to create, but you pay to send. Ouvella is not free (€14.99 once for the whole group), but signing is.

What is the best group card website?

There isn’t a single one: it depends on what matters to you. For the most features (GIFs, video, printed books, business plans), Kudoboard. For a free card with no message limit, a free GreetPool design. For video, voice notes and a built-in gift collection, Thankbox Premium. For the feel of a paper card, GroupGreeting. For a physical card everyone signs, Moonpig or, in the UK, GroupCards.io’s printing service. For a card where nobody reads anyone else’s message until the big day, Ouvella, which is our product.

What are the best Kudoboard alternatives?

GreetPool (free designs, video, PDF keepsake), Thankbox (video and voice notes on Premium, private messages, gift collection), GroupCards.io (optional private signatures, gift card pots with no added fee), GroupGreeting (a page-turning card) and Ouvella (every message private by default, slideshow included). Padlet or a Microsoft Forms survey work for zero cost.

Are there free group ecards for the office?

If your company runs on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, you already have free tools: a Forms survey turned into a slideshow, a shared document, or a Teams or Slack channel created without the person. For an actual ecard, a free GreetPool design costs nothing. For an office that celebrates someone every week, a subscription such as Kudoboard’s Business plan, GroupCards.io’s Business plan or Thankbox’s Team Plan may fit better than one-off cards.

Can signers see each other’s messages?

It depends on the site. On GroupGreeting everyone sees everything, as on a paper card. On Kudoboard a post is viewable by anyone with the board link by default, and private posts can be turned on for Milestone boards and business plans. Thankbox and GroupCards.io let each contributor make their own message private. On Padlet, people who post can read the board. GreetPool and Moonpig do not say on the pages we read. On Ouvella, signers never see anyone else’s message, with no setting to change.

Can we collect money for a group gift on the card?

On several sites, yes, as a group gift card: Kudoboard (processing fee, $1,000 cap per board), Thankbox (up to €400 or €1,000, with a fee per contribution, for example 2.9% + $0.19 in USD), GreetPool (service fee shown before paying) and GroupCards.io (no added fee, optional tip). Ouvella does not collect money: you paste the link of your own online collection, which signers see and the recipient never does.

Can I print a digital group card?

Usually as a PDF: GreetPool, Thankbox, GroupGreeting (low resolution, according to its FAQ), GroupCards.io, Padlet and Ouvella (keepsake booklet) all let you save or print it. Kudoboard sells hardbound books from $32.99, GroupCards.io prints and posts cards in the UK, and Moonpig group cards can be physical cards. Voice messages and videos stay online.

How much does a group card cost?

In November 2026, per card: $4.99 at GroupCards.io and GreetPool, €4.99 or €8.99 at Thankbox, $5.99 excluding VAT at GroupGreeting, $6.99 to $19.99 at Kudoboard, and €14.99 at Ouvella, about €0.75 per person for a team of 20. Padlet has a free plan, and teams that celebrate all year may save with a subscription.
