Birthday surprise website
A birthday surprise website that unlocks at the minute you choose
Updated · by Milad, founder of Ouvella
Be the first to wish them happy birthday, with more than a text. Ouvella is a birthday website that is already designed: a private link that opens like an envelope, with your message, photos, a song, a voice note, a quiz and a reveal at the end. Until the minute you choose (midnight, for example, in your time zone or theirs), they only see a countdown. €9.99 once, no subscription, no account, and the full preview is free.
What the birthday website holds
They open the envelope, then scroll through it on their phone. Here is what it can hold:
Your message
Your words for their day
Your photos
The best moments of the year
A song
The one that is theirs
A voice note
Happy birthday, in your voice
A birthday quiz
A question only they can answer
The reveal
The real present, kept for last
How to make a birthday website for someone, in 3 steps
1. Write your message
Pick the birthday theme and write what you want them to read first.
2. Add the photos, the song and your voice
Upload your photos, add a song (a file, or a YouTube or Spotify link that plays in a built-in player), record a voice note in the browser and write a quiz question only they can answer. The preview shows exactly what they will see.
3. Set it for midnight and send it
Pay €9.99 once, choose the date and time it unlocks (in your time zone or theirs), then send the link or print the card with the QR code.
Birthday website ideas, by person
For your girlfriend
Set to unlock at midnight (your time zone or hers), a voice note to start, the photos of your year together, and the plan for her birthday dinner as the reveal.
For your boyfriend
Keep it playful: a quiz question on your inside jokes, the song from your first road trip, and the concert tickets or the trip as the final reveal.
For your best friend
The old photos they would rather forget, a quiz only the two of you can win, and a message you would never say out loud.
When you live far apart
Send it days in advance; it unlocks at the exact moment you set. For midnight their time, set it for midnight in their time zone, with no conversion: the editor shows what time that is for you.

Free birthday website maker or ready-made?
Free options exist: the free plans of Carrd or Canva Websites let you build a page yourself, and a few sites make simple birthday-wish pages for free, some of which expire after a while. Ouvella costs €9.99 once and skips the design work: it is already laid out for a phone, carries your voice and a quiz, unlocks at the exact minute you choose (in your time zone or theirs) with a countdown until then, and stays online for at least 5 years. We compared nine options, ours included, on our best birthday website makers page.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a birthday website for someone?
On Ouvella, pick the birthday theme, write your message, then add photos, a song, a voice note and a quiz question only they can answer. It is already designed, so it takes about 5 minutes. The full preview is free; you pay €9.99 once to get the private link and the QR code.
Can the birthday website unlock exactly at midnight?
Yes. You choose the date and time it unlocks, midnight on the birthday for example, in your time zone or theirs. Until then the link shows a countdown and nothing inside, so you can send it the day before and be the first to wish them happy birthday.
Their birthday is tomorrow. Is it too late?
No. Nothing is shipped: you personalize it in about 5 minutes and the link or QR code reaches them instantly, wherever they live.
Is there a free birthday website maker?
Yes: the free plans of Carrd or Canva Websites, and some free birthday-wish pages. You design everything yourself, and some free pages expire. Ouvella costs €9.99 once and comes already designed, with your voice and a quiz, and it unlocks at the minute you choose. We compared these options on our best birthday website makers page.
Can friends add their own messages?
This surprise is written by one person. If several friends or colleagues want to sign together, use our group birthday card instead: everyone adds a message from a shared link.
Does the website disappear after the birthday?
No. It stays online for at least 5 years, they can reopen it whenever they want, and you can still edit it after paying through your private link.
